Welcome to the Mayflower Brewery website
We're now up and brewing at our new site in Upholland and despite the gorgeous views to distract us, we're running at full production.
The first brew was an old favourite, Douglas Valley (4.0% abv - a
distinctive, dry, hoppy beer made with finest Maris Otter malt and English hops). The intial batch went out to the Delph (Wigan CAMRA branch Pub of the Season Spring 2010), the
Turks Head
and the new bar/bistro at Holland Hall Hotel, with the first nine (72 pints) selling out in 4 hours!!!

Since then, as well as more Douglas Valley, we've brewed Tower Hill, produced to celebrate the move. At 3.8% abv, it's a dark session beer, lightly hopped and made with three types of grain for added body. Reports are that it's going down a treat.
Red Eye was next on the agenda but had to be postponed, as we couldn't get hold of one of the key ingredients. Don't worry though, it'll be brewed as soon as possible and in the meantime, Black Diamond (a real flat rib - 3.6%) is almost ready to rack and has been brewed by request from the
Antrobus Arms
in Amesbury, Wiltshire. Plus, we have another new brew on the horizon, our 'Lancashire Stout' (5.1% abv), a smooth, smoky dark stout ideal for toasting the splendour of the area.
As a small brewery, we are lucky enough to be able to pick and choose the outlets that sell our beer. Our policy is to supply to local pubs who take pride in keeping and serving real ale plus well-reknowned real ale festivals. In support of this aim, we're a
Locale
brewery accredited by
Wigan CAMRA
branch.
Mayflower beers are now regularly available at the
Turks Head
, St Helens, the Delph Tavern, Orrell and
Holland Hall Hotel
, Upholland. Other outlets include
The Crown
at Worthington (runner-up in the CAMRA National Pub of the Year 2009 competition),
The Hop Vine
in Burscough and various quality free-houses throughout the North West.
Those of you who know your real ale will already know that these are great local pubs with fine reputations and a host of awards. Don't forget to pop in when you're out and about.
Cheers
Al & Tracy

A fine beer may be judged with only one sip, but it's better to be thoroughly sure
